The Wonderful World of Electronics

Miscellaneous and sundry thoughts, designs and projects in electronics. The subject matter will vary widely, as my hobby and professional life has often intersected in the electronics field. My original ham license (in 1961) was KN9GOG. Being a novice class license, it expired after a year and about the same time I discovered another fascinating hobby - girls! It wasn't until about 1976 that I was again a licensed ham, advanced class, as WB9VRC.  That license also expired sometime back, and regretfully I delayed renewing it until it now required a whole run through the testing, licensing phase again. Luckily, I had an opportunity to take a test at the Peoria Superfest and managed to gain an Extra Class license ... AB9PP.  Subsequently, I traded that in for the ultimate vanity call ... N9GOD.

What caused that hiatus was my entry into Radiotelephone (2-way Public Safety) Service. Trust me, nothing interferes more with a hobby than making it a vocation <G>!  After nearly 20 years of that I "retired" from the service field and am now getting back into the hobby end of electronics. Wonderfully, there is a host of high-quality inexpensive test gear available now that would have cost a fortune to gather just a few years ago.  The U.S.A. electronics publishing scene has suffered a severe decline in construction related publications but the internet has a wealth of information and there are European, Eastern and Australian publications easily available to U.S. enthusiasts.
